The office focuses on initiatives of training, education, collaboration, policy, advocacy, and stewardship to foster and sustain an equitable and diverse educational community. The Office of Belonging has several on-campus diversity initiatives, including a social justice lectures series, Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM) Peer-to-Peer Mentoring Program, and the James L. Curtis Summer Bridge Program, which expands STEM education to historically underrepresented student populations.

The James L. Curtis Institute for Race and Belonging centers STEM learning and education as an inclusive way to reach out to communities and pursue racial equity and justice. Interdisciplinary scholarship and course development helps students to learn about the experiences of peers in their field, as well as the world around them, and to think critically about how STEM education and professional positions can lead to improvements in issues of race and inclusion.
