Student Research 
Undergraduate research is an inquiry or investigation conducted by an undergraduate in collaboration with a faculty mentor that makes an original intellectual or creative contribution to the discipline. The symposium is designed to demonstrate the importance of research and scholarship within our community via formal presentations, recitals, writings, poster sessions and art exhibits.

International Programs
Takes learning beyond the classroom and helps broaden student understanding of global perspectives through study abroad.

Office for Outreach and Engagement 
Serves as the College’s primary liaison for cultivating faculty, student and staff engagement with the external community by: 

  • Facilitating and supporting college-wide efforts to create engaged activities for faculty, staff and students,
  • Advancing public access to college resources and academic expertise,
  • Advocating for engaged scholarship and community-based collaborations, and
  • Promoting the value of the College’s liberal arts education through meaningful outreach, engagement, and service initiatives.

STEM Scholars Program 
Provides additional, targeted orientation to college-level math and science to first-year students who plan to study one of these disciplines at Aquinas. Participants meet other students in STEM fields and develop leadership proficiency while enhancing skills needed to achieve their full potential in science and math courses.

Aquinas’ partnership with Michigan State University College of Medicine provides an enhanced opportunity for Aquinas’ premedical students to attend medical school. The Early Assurance Program allows candidates to complete a program of enriching clinical and service experiences, as well as academic advising directed toward admission to MSU College of Human Medicine. 

The University of Detroit Mercy (UDM) offers a full-time, 4-year direct admit Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program at Aquinas College (AQ). This unique partnership with Aquinas College and Trinity Health Grand Rapids provides the opportunity to complete liberal arts and supportive coursework at AQ taught by Aquinas faculty. All nursing coursework is taught by UDM faculty.

Centers of Excellence/Research

AQ Advantage Center
Oversees the areas of Career Development, Internships and Undergraduate Research, and offers students and alumni a variety of services and resources to help them on their journey both academically and personally.

Center for Opportunities, Resources, and Excellence (CORE)
Offers a variety of services free of charge to all students. The opportunities available to students include peer tutoring, writing consultations, ESL/ELL support, and the TRIO SSS program. CORE works to ensure equal access for students to utilize campus and community resources and achieve academic excellence. 

Center for Sustainability at Aquinas College (C4S)
Among its activities, the Center for Sustainability delivers sustainability education to the West Michigan community via lectures and conferences, and to Aquinas students, staff, and faculty via targeted workshops and speaker series. The C4S also coordinates major programs to build a culture for sustainability and develop sustainable life skills among students and employees. The most significant initiatives of the C4S include the zero-waste initiative, the urban forest initiative, and the community garden.

Aquinas College consistently places among the leaders in the annual Race to Zero Waste competition. In 2023, we placed 7th nationally and 1st in the State for the Diversion Category. Also, 2nd nationally in the smaller campus division of the “Food Organics” category.

The Center for Diversity, Inclusion, and Equity (CDI&E) serves as a safe space for all members of the Aquinas community to engage in empathetic intercultural exploration and develop a deeper understanding of their own cultural identity.

Accessibility Services
The Mission of Accessibility Services, in concert with the Aquinas College Mission, is to ensure equal access to all programs and services for students with disabilities through a multilevel approach. It supports students in the practice and development of self-advocacy skills as they pursue their goals in education and beyond, and through intercampus partnerships, promotes the development and improvement of inclusive practices.

The AQ Advantage Center annually surveys recent graduates to capture where Saints land within six months of graduation through the First Destination Survey. For 2022:

  • Placement rate for graduates was 96%, including working full-time, part-time, attending graduate school, and volunteering/participating in service work. 
  • 84% of undergraduates and graduates who responded in the Class of 2022 reported being employed within three months after graduation. 
  • 82% of undergraduates in the Class of 2022 were employed at the time of completing the survey in fall of 2022. 
  • 100% of Masters graduates in the Class of 2022 are employed full-time after receiving their degree.
  • 93.1% of 2020 graduates were either employed or in graduate schools within six months of graduation.
  • 100% of graduates in nursing (AQ/Detroit Mercy Nursing program) and chemistry are employed within six months of graduation.
